What Edves does
Most Ghanaian schools run on a stack nobody designed. An admission register, a mark book, a fee ledger in an exercise book or spreadsheet, a WhatsApp group for parents, and a separate result-processing package one person understands. Each part works. The joins do not.
Edves consolidates that into one learner record: admission through to leaving certificate, with School-Based Assessment, the fee ledger, attendance, the terminal report, the parent notification and the EMIS return all reading from the same data.
The second thing it does is instructional rather than administrative — lesson planning mapped to a NaCCA learning indicator, assessment tagged to the same indicator, and analytics that tell a teacher which content a class has not secured before WAEC does.

Built for the conditions
Three design decisions follow from where the product was built, and they matter more in Ghana than a feature list suggests.
- Power and connectivity tolerance. The system holds work through interruption and syncs afterwards, including mid-assessment. A computer-based test that collapses when the power goes is worse than a paper one.
- Fee logic that matches how schools actually charge. Term payments, part payments against a running balance, sibling and staff concessions, scholarships, optional levies and arrears — modelled properly rather than approximated.
- Cedi-native accounting. Chart of accounts, ledgers, trial balance and profit and loss structured for how a Ghanaian bursar and external auditor actually work.
